Letter from the President
My name is Erin Martin, and I am the 2019 Chapter President of the Sigma Kappa chapter at Northwest Missouri State University.
I have wanted to be a Bearcat since I was in elementary school, but when I pictured my time at Northwest, I didn’t envision Greek life as a part of it. When I arrived my freshman year I was 300 miles away from home and didn’t know anyone. I decided to branch out and go through formal recruitment. I didn’t know it at the time, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. Sigma Kappa has led me to women who, regardless of various majors, backgrounds, and ages who have supported me through both trials and successes.
My time in Sigma Kappa has led me to be a part of something that is bigger than myself. It has allowed me to grow as a person and spend time with women who share the same values of- service, loyalty, friendship, and personal growth. My sisters are the ones who help me study for a big test, don’t judge me when I eat three ice cream cones in one day, and are the ones who comfort me when I’ve had a rough day. Over the past two years I have grown so much and have become more confident and stronger woman, and I have Sigma Kappa to thank for that.
I am truly proud to be a member of Sigma Kappa and to serve at the Kappa Alpha chapter president. Continue to look around our website and get to know our chapter better!
