Chapter Philanthropy

Sigma Kappa has five philanthropies including the Sigma Kappa Foundation, Inherit the Earth, Gerontology, Maine Seacoast Mission, and Alzheimer’s. One of our values is service, so being able to give back to others and our community is very special to us. Our sisters attend events to raise money and spread awareness for our main philanthropies through the year.

For the Sigma Kappa Foundation we put on our UltraViolet Campaign and invite people from the university to attend our fun and unique events. Highway clean-ups and Earth week allow us to give back to the Earth, and to ensure that our environment stays healthy. Our nursing home visits every other week allow us to interact with the senior citizen community, and enhance our understanding of Gerontology. During the summer, we ship items on the needed list for the Maine Seacoast Mission, which helps those living in Maine during the harsh winter times. Lastly, we attend St. Joseph and Kansas City, Missouri, Walk to End Alzheimer’s each year and each member is in charge of raising one hundred dollars before the walk takes places.

The members of Kappa Alpha have designated plenty of their time giving back to others in our community and to our main philanthropies. While doing so we have all learned lifelong lessons that have taught us to truly value service and to always make a positive impact on others around us. We look forward to contributing to our amazing philanthropies this year, and cannot wait to see all that we accomplish.
